V3 is easy to figure out - fast idle for 30-60 sec, then full throttle for >30 sec. If you don't hear it step from mid-to-high-to mid rpms, then it's not V3. Some times I have to bring out the big boys for some big trunks that I get from some arborist friends but for anything else the 261 and a poulan with 20" bar and full chisel chain is what I use the most.
